Emma Children's Hospital

Interactive experience for patients at Emma Kinderziekenhuis

Challenge

Emma Kinderziekenhuis is being renovated and the new play area should become a place for the children where they can take a break from their illness. How can we distract the children so that they can take a break from their medical journey?

The interactive play wall provides distraction and encourages patients to move. Even if they are in a wheelchair or bedridden.

Solution

Commissioned by Emma Kinderziekenhuis, IJsfontein developed an interactive play wall. In the hospital's playroom, the interactive installation consists of a large screen that hangs on the wall. Trough body tracking players use their own movements to bring avatars to life in a colourful fantasy world.

The interactive play wall provides a distraction for the children and challenges them to move

Robots, flying critters, princesses, etc. there is something for everyone. Then have some fun with throwing bubbles at each other or having a boxing match.

Impact

Children can play for hours. This allows them to forget they are ill for a while and helps keep their fitness levels up. This interactive play wall has even been nominated for a Cinekid New Media Award.
