Making reading fun and effortless with the Letterprins app

Challenge

Children who learn to read well will benefit throughout their lives. Those reading miles cannot all be done in the classroom. Reading at home with your child is therefore important. How can we help parents and children?

In the game, you work together to search for the lost books in the castle of the Letter Prince. .

Solution

Commissioned by Radboud University, we developed the free game Letterprins. A magical world, in which you and your child can spend 10-15 minutes every day learning to read. Together you search the lost books in the prince's castle.

The game follows what your child can already do, and helps to become better, step by step. Letterprins also gives book tips, matching your child's interests.

For the development of Letterprins we worked together with researchers of the Radboud University and orthopedagogues of OPM Nijmegen. To connect with schools and parents we also worked together with Stichting Sardes and Stichting Lezen.

Letter Prince is great. It looks good, it’s varied and the humor in between is fun. I love that it has been thought through so expertly! I myself am a teacher but don't want to be a teacher at home
Linda (mother of Tobias, aged 5)

The tasks and tips are tailored exactly to the child's reading level.

Impact

Letterprins promotes word recognition, vocabulary and sentence comprehension. Experiencing fun and success together is paramount. In this way, children discover that reading is fun, and their self-confidence grows.
