Waterliniemuseum

Experience the Waterlinie museum through an interactive discovery tour

Challenge

The newly opened Waterlinie Museum located in Fort bij Vechten tells the impressive story of over 300 years of the Dutch Waterfront. How can we best take visitors on a journey through over 300 years of impressive history of the Dutch Waterfront?

Solution

IJsfontein made this experience medial and interactive thanks to games, films, animations, projections on felt sculptures like a Virtual Reality parachute jump over the Netherlands. With an interactive wristband around your wrist, you walk through the museum and everything comes to life.

The great story is told by five prominent figures from the fronts history. The wristband sets the language and the area the visitor lives in; before, in or behind the waterfront. Your place of residence has a huge impact on your story: did you have shelter or not? This is how stories become personal.

Impact

Sterk Water lets visitors immerse themselves in the impressive history of the Dutch Waterfront. The exhibition even won a Heritage in Motion Award and was nominated for a Cinekid New Media Award.

The Waterlinie Museum has to be just about the most fun, engaging and interactive museum we have visited with our children
