Siemens
Cooperative card game enhances internal communication
Challenge
Effective internal communication is one of the most important factors for a well-functioning company. This is especially true for large organizations like Siemens with many employees, teams and departments. All these people with different interests communicate with each other in many different ways. How do you teach employees to do this in the best possible way?
Complete client task cards by placing the correct abstract shapes in the requested composition.
Solution
We developed 'The Great Leverage Game': a card game in which players must work together as efficiently as possible to complete all customer assignments.
The game consists of five rounds in which teams try to complete as many assignment cards as possible within a round. Players run through a large room and negotiate with the other teams to collect sets of abstract shapes. When teams communicate well and help each other complete the sets, they achieve high scores. A strategy evaluation follows each round. The game ends with a plenary debriefing.
Impact
This game makes employees aware of their own strengths and shortcomings in the game and in their work. You learn by doing: from and with each other. The game is now being played internationally.
The Great Leverage Game is the second game we made for Siemens. A follow-up game is now in development.
